Acuity Brands Inc. has signed up for Philips’ licensing program for LED-based lighting systems.  Philips and Acuity Brands, Inc. have entered into a licensing agreement granting Acuity Brands to access Philips patent portfolio for LED-based systems and control.

This agreement with Philips will allow Acuity Brands to deliver more advanced LED-based lighting solutions.  Acuity Brands is one of the top leading providers of innovative, technologically advanced, sustainable lighting products and lighting related solutions with brands including Lithonia lighting, Holophane, Peerless, Gotham and Mark Architectural Lighting. Through the agreement, Acuity Brands will incorporate to Philips’ patented technologies control of LED systems for general lighting, architectural and theatrical applications.

As the chief executive officer of Philips Lighting, Rudy Provoost said that Philips has significantly invested in the research and development solid-state lighting for the past several years. “Our wide-ranging IP portfolio reflects the resulting innovations” Rudy stated. “In the same manner, we are committed for our growth’s industry and vested great interest in accelerating adoption.
